Abstract

GUADAGNINI, Maria de Fátima  and  SIMAO, Adriana Nobre de Paula. Attention research of teen presenting bad school performance. Rev. psicopedag. [online]. 2016, vol.33, n.102, pp. 251-261. ISSN 0103-8486.

The aim of this research was to compare the attentional performance of adolescents in neuropsychological instruments that assess attention. Forty teenagers from a State Public School in the city of Campinas-SP, of both genders, aged 14-16 years with and without learning difficulties were analyzed. The following instruments were used: General Intelligence Test Nonverbal (TIG-NV); Factorial indexes processing speed (VP) and Working Memory (MO) of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC-IV); Cancellation test with pencil and paper A / B and Trail Making Test A / B. The results of the groups were statistically analyzed and obtained significant differences indicating lower scores in adolescents with poor school performance in used instruments, with the exception of canceling test - Letters in rows and the Trail Making Test - Part B, which did not show significant differences in the control group. The results suggest that attentional function displays losses in the group of students pointed to poor school performance, corroborating studies that state that attention is the basis for successful learning.
