FONSECA, Patrícia Nunes da. The impact of institutional sheltering in the life of teenagers. Rev. psicopedag. [online]. 2017, vol.34, n.105, pp. 285-296. ISSN 0103-8486.

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to analyze the impact institutional sheltering in the life of teenagers. Eleven male teenagers took part of this study, aged about 15.36 years old (SD = 1.36, varying from 13 to 17). METHODS: A sociodemographic questionnaire and a semi-structured interview script were used. For data analysis, the statistical package SPSS (version 21) and Iramuteq software (version 0.7 alpha 2) were used. RESULTS: The results indicated that, even in shelter homes, the teenagers maintain a link with family and friends through visits, telephone and social networks. Regarding to the academic life, although they have showed a positive perception of the school, the young people presented low school performance. In terms of future perspectives, the participants expressed the intention of forming a family and maintaining it. CONCLUSION: Finally, it highlights the importance of the support networks for the well-being of the integrated young person.
