CAMPOS, Caroline de Carvalho Pereira de; SILVA, Fernanda Caroline Pinto da  e  CIASCA, Sylvia Maria. Expectation of health and psychopedagogue professionals about learning and school inclusion of individuals with autistic spectrum disorders. Rev. psicopedag. [online]. 2018, vol.35, n.106, pp. 3-13. ISSN 0103-8486.

This study aimed to assess health care and psychopedagogy practitioners' expectations towards learning capabilities and inclusive education of children with autism spectrum disorder. A total of 33 practitioners in health care and education from the metropolitan area of Campinas-SP participated in the study. Data were collected through semi structured interviews, which were recorded, transcribed, and assessed through a content analysis method. Results show practitioners believe that children with ASD own sufficient learning capabilities, but learning will take different path and pace. Interdisciplinary approach was listed as a critical factor for successful development and effective inclusion of autistic children. The majority of professionals believe inclusive education is for all as well as it does foster the development of multiple skills, whereas inclusion is not a reality due to the lack of skilled professionals providing customized education services and the nonexistence of inclusive education programs.
