Abstract

MARTINS, Sendy Christine Pinheiro  and  PINTO, Lariana Paula. Academic competences and social skills: Correlational study in children. Rev. psicopedag. [online]. 2022, vol.39, n.118, pp. 5-13. ISSN 0103-8486.  http://dx.doi.org/10.51207/2179-4057.20220001.

This study presents correlations between academic competences and social skills evidenced in 50 schoolchildren from the public network aged 6 to 13 years (M=9.14; SD=2.01) living in the interior of Minas Gerais state. Academic competencies were measured through the School Performance Test (TDE) and social skills by the Inventory of Social Skills, Behavioral Problems and Child Academic Competencies (SSRS). The results showed positive and significant correlations between Social Responsibility skills and writing skills, arithmetic and general academic performance. The results and studies show that the repertoire of social skills in children can be attenuated in the learning process, and programs for the development of social skills in childhood can be carried out as a preventive measure of learning and behavior problems.
