Abstract

NUNES, Liana Garcia. The contribution of neuropsychology to Rett syndrome: A clinical case. Rev. psicopedag. [online]. 2022, vol.39, n.119, pp. 304-309. ISSN 0103-8486.  http://dx.doi.org/10.51207/2179-4057.20220027.

Rett syndrome is a developmental disorder caused by a genetic mutation, which affects mostly female children, with some rarity in males. It is understood that people affected by this syndrome will lose their cognitive and functional conditions over time. This study sought to verify and discuss the contribution of neuropsychology to clinical cases of Rett syndrome (RS). For this, a case study was carried out with a child with RS and the following were used: initial interview with the parents, clinical observations and observations of the child's filming in the domestic environment, cognition and socio-emotional. The analysis of the results allowed to verify the current condition of the child's development, contributing to the understanding of the cognitive profile of these patients even in early childhood.
