ABREU, Luiz Carlos de et al. Incidence of intra-periventricular hemorrage in preterm newborn and its relationship with body weight. Rev. bras. crescimento desenvolv. hum. [online]. 2007, vol.17, n.2, pp. 24-30. ISSN 0104-1282.

The Intraventricular-periventricular hemorrhage characteristics (IPVH) at the neonatal period in premature newborn constitutes an important event to prevent sequels in short and long stated period. The aim this study was evaluate the incidence of intraventricularperiventricular hemorrhage (IPVH) in premature newborn and to correlate it with weight, in observational and transversal study in a neonatal intensive unit therapy, the Hospital do Servidor Publico Estadual in the city of São Paulo, the period of January of 1996 the December of 1997. It was included 70 of 102 newborn (weight < 2000g). The classification of Papille was used, it classifies IPVH in four degrees, as the extension of the same one. The ultrasound diagnostics were carried through in the fourth, eighth, fifteenth and twenty-eighth days of life, since that the newborn remained interned in the intensive unit. 32 cases of IPVH were diagnostic. It had statically significant correlation (pd"0,001) of the weight with occurrence of IPVH and the IPVH group showed lesser weight. However, the IPVH is a frequent event in preterm newborn and it was related with weight < 1500g. The ultrasonographic examination revealed efficiency at the diagnostic. Thus, when it is realized diagnosis of IPVH, we suggest taking the newborn to the multidisciplinar accompaniment.
