Abstract

This article aims to examine issues raised by the project "Another place for childhood: from the complex of admission to shelters for children and adolescents", seeking to investigate the practices/discourses that traverse the shelters. Analyses were made from interviews with professionals from the old establishments for children and adolescents to existing shelters for protecting childhood and youth. Among the analyzers that have emerged throughout these interviews, three of them were selected to discuss the subjectivities produced and reproduced in shelters, namely: 1) shadow of institutionalization in the shelters, 2) medicalization and psychiatric sheltered children and adolescents, 3) construction of autonomy
