Abstract

SLOMKA, Luciane. Association between the level of resilience and clinical status of patients chronic kidney disease. Barbaroi [online]. 2011, n.34, pp. 23-37. ISSN 0104-6578.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the association between resilience and clinical status of patients with chronic renal failure on hemodialysis. It was a cross-sectional study, quantitative, which analyzed the distribution of levels of resilience and related to the clinical status of patients. There were 60 patients of both sexes, adults on hemodialysis for at least three months. The main instrument used was the scale resilience Wagnild and Young (1993). The clinical status was measured by the index Kt / V, hemoglobin and body mass index. It was noticed a slight tendency of patients with scores higher resilience to submit index Kt / V closer to the ideal, indicating no significant association. The same occurred in relation to the level of resilience and hemoglobin. The association between resilience and body mass index showed a greater tendency compared to other associations. Thus, patients with body mass index within the level taken as healthy had higher level of resilience. There was no significant association between resilience and clinical status of patients, although results indicate a slight tendency for this.
