Abstract

Faced with a stressful event that exceeds the capability of managing a person, we use the coping strategies. The present study identified stressful events related to work, as well as the coping strategies most used by fighter pilots of a military squad of RS. Thirteen fighter pilots participated of the research; they answered a questionnaire with demographic data and the Coping Strategies Inventory. The participants' stressful events are related to the flight and / or administrative matters. The most frequently used coping strategies in face of these situations were social support, positive reappraisal and Troubleshooting. The sources of support for those coping were: family, wife, co-workers, bosses and friends. The identification of strategies allowed to explore some actions taken by these soldiers faced with stressful situations, which may assist in planning activities of the squad in terms of psychological and administrative view.
