Abstract

LAUERMANN, Jusiene Denise  and  GUAZINA, Félix Miguel Nascimento. Beyond the walls of institutionalism: exploring the discourses of former convicts. Barbaroi [online]. 2013, n.38, pp. 178-197. ISSN 0104-6578.

This work aims to understand the discourses of former convicts on their conditions, as well as how prison institutions focused on the construction of subjectivity among these people. The experiences of those in prison and how this experience contributes to the construction of subjectivity after their departure from prison as well as how they integrate socially. It was approached as a methodology, a qualitative approach, using semi-structured interviews. The interviews were conducted with five former convicts from a Prison in Rio Grande do Sul and subjected to analysis of speech. Among the results, some points have proved to be recurrent: the process of incarceration, stigma, exclusion, the recovery of family ties, lack of opportunities and relapse. Given this, the chances of Psychology in this context would be: to act in the construction of public policies geared to the prison system and support for former convicts and, debate forms of institution subjectively produced in prisons.
