Abstract

BARROS, Sibelle Maria Martins de; MONTEIRO, Pedro Augusto Lima; NEVES, Mariany Bezerra  and  MACIEL, Glória Tamires de Sousa. Strengthening the support network of mothers in the context of congenital Zika Virus Syndrome: reports of a psychosocial and systemic intervention. Nova perspect. sist. [online]. 2017, vol.26, n.58, pp. 38-59. ISSN 0104-7841.

This article aims to give a description of an experience of group intervention with mothers of children affected by Congenital Zika Virus Syndrome (SCVZ) from a psychosocial and new paradigmatic systemic perspective. This work proposal, carried out as part of a university extension program, aimed to contribute to the strengthening of the mothers' personal social network. The meetings were held weekly, lasting one and a half hours, with the participation of mothers living in Campina Grande and surrounding towns. As methodological resources we used the group dynamics workshop and the conversational questions. Among the main topics addressed were: marriage, family, health services, support, friendship and disability. We found that mothers deal with several problems related to their family and social context such as communication difficulties in the marital relationship, prejudice by family members and others people, difficulties in accessing some public services and lack of reception by some health professionals. However, the group intervention allowed the strengthening of links between the mothers, a process still under construction, and the co-construction of some alternatives to solve problems identified by them, promoting group autonomy.

Keywords : personal social network; Congenital Zika virus syndrome; Psychosocial intervention; systemic attendance.
