CARDOSO, David Tiago. Social constructionism: toward social assistance. Nova perspect. sist. [online]. 2017, vol.26, n.58, pp. 60-73. ISSN 0104-7841.

Social Constructionism has been gaining strength in Psychology through its non-essentialist, non-universalizing epistemological foundations, focusing on the relational process, considering the historical and cultural context, allowing professionals to build potent practices in the field of performance. All this power comes from five decades of directions that allowed Social Constructionism to become a movement marked by a valid alternative to the dominant empiricist model. Among these directions are the possibility of a generative theory, a science in postmodernity, the construction of transformative dialogues and, more recently, the direction of a visionary psychology. The objective of this article is to think how the constructionist social discourse and its presuppositions, in Psychology, can be articulated to the public policy of Brazilian social protection, non contributory, organized and offered through the Unique System of Social Assistance. Using the author's experience in the field of action with the presuppositions of Social Constructionism, in order that the senses constructed in this direction be discussed, it was possible to understand that Social Constructionism, when articulated critically with practice, allows the necessary social transformations to take place in Within the framework of the relationships created and recreated in the daily work of social work with families.
