Abstract

LORDELLO, Silvia Renata Magalhães  and  COSTA, Liana Fortunato. Group intervention with women whose pregnancy is due to sexual violence: a social constructionist view. Nova perspect. sist. [online]. 2017, vol.26, n.59, pp. 52-70. ISSN 0104-7841.

The study approaches a group intervention proposal, with women who had their pregnancy due to sexual violence. As a contemporary family configuration, the complexity of the families that come up in this context demands a study of its peculiarities. The Social Constructionist referential was adopted in the comprehension of the conversational contents emerged in the group, which approached themes suggested by the participants to discuss aspects related to maternity. The analysis of the results pointed out four categories which involved: the impacts of violence on pregnancy, the process of becoming a mother, the emotional separation between the aggressor and the baby, and the group as a collective space for sharing. The group intervention was a collective space for the elaboration of traumatic experiences and was seen as positive by the participants.  The gender social construction enabled the criticism to the stereotyped maternal role and the questions about the naturalization of the sexual violence as a masculine prerogative. It was concluded that the participants understand maternity as a process in construction, permeated by challenges.
