Abstract

VAL, Eduardo Ribeiro do. Corporate Kite: a tool of narrative therapy applied to business families. Nova perspect. sist. [online]. 2018, vol.27, n.61, pp. 35-48. ISSN 0104-7841.

This article presents the report of a research that uses as reference the Kite of Life methodology, developed by David Denborough (2008), adapted to the organizational environment and aims to strength, by the language, the interpersonal and intergenerational relations between the members of this business family. The research object of this study is a family cargo transportation company founded in 1990. After the death of its founder, the heirs took up positions in the company. The absence of succession planning led to conflicts such as: overwork, the emotional overload of the widow, and especially the lack of common purpose of that family within the corporation. These narratives became a history saturated with problems, and the adaptation of the Kite of Life methodology to the corporate environment helped this family overcome conflicts.

Keywords : narrative therapy; collective narrative practices; corporate kite; people management; family businesses.
