This study is a qualitative research whose objective is to describe the perceptions of parents and children who participated in Parenting Workshops about the construction of parenting exercise after marital dissolution and the reverberation of participation in workshops in their relationships. The method used was of multiple case studies. This study included three families composed of fathers, mothers and biological children who participated in the “Parenting Workshop” in a city in the interior of Minas Gerais. As a data collection instrument, semi-structured interviews were used for parents and children. Data were analyzed according to the content analysis technique. It was possible to perceive the tangled character of marital and parental relations and also, the way in which the naturalization of maternal and paternal roles impacts on the construction of parenting, favoring conflicts of loyalty, especially in families that experience litigation. There is a great effort from both parents and children to adapt to the changes that come with separation, and the Parenting Workshop is an important support tool for families.
