The cancerous disease always has gone accompanied by psychological repercussions. The psychological factors related to the cancer are studied by the psychooonchology. The research is psychooonchology is fundamental to cause its development. In order to be able to make studies in this field with scientific guarantees, is necessary to include a solid diagnosis and quantified that includes a description of the anatomical location of the primary tumor, the histological type of the tumor, the sites of metastasis and those allow data to characterize the degree of development reached by the disease. This work describes to the definition and objectives of the psychooonchology, types of prevention, importance of psychological assessment, psychosocial intervention of the patient with cancer for the control of nausea and vomiting, pain and psychological measures of anxiety and depression, and methodology research in this area.
