Resumen

SANABRIA LEON, Jorge. Bosquejos de niñez y proyectos de vida en la novela de Dickens “David Copperfield”. Actual. psicol. [online]. 2003, vol.19, n.106, pp. 66-96. ISSN 0258-6444.

The interpretation of Charles Dickens’ novel David Copperfield is aimed at highlighting forms in which the literature raises for debate issues of subjectivity and interaction. The main topic is the cultural assignment of individual features engendering from predetermided personal and lifestyle values. The social construction of prejudice is given special attention. The analytical thread is focused on the interaction between David Copperfield and Urias Heep’s personae, which conform antipodes reflecting that of social antagonism. The contrasting configuration between the characteristics of the personae - the projects they perform and their destinies - offers a field of study about the guidelines for acting in daily life. Such a configuration foreshadows an arrangement of experience. The analysis points out a building hierachy of ways of life and worlds of living. These outlines show how several symbolic levels are committed to the assignment of collective meaningful social roles.

Palabras clave : Profound hermeneutics; Marginality; Social construction of prejudice; Cultural prototypes.
