Abstract

An exploratory and descriptive study was made to explore with a self-applied questionnaire; three different measurements: discriminatory social events and perception of individual and group discrimination; for this, 90 people: (37 men and 53 women the mean of age was 35 years old), native Costa Ricans from the community of Quitirrisí de Mora, who called themselves members of the Huetar ethnic group. The main events perceived as discriminatory were jokes about the indigenous people, disagreeable gestures, comments in the buses and difficulties to the access an own house. The perception of individual discrimination had a mean of 1.41, while the group discrimination an average of 2.31. Although the results express low scores, they confirm the perception of an unequal and unjust treatment
