The author considers that the study of convergences and divergences in psychoanalytic clinical practice requires knowledge of what psychoanalysts really do in their practice. He outlines a phenomenology of clinical practice and of processes of validation of the interventions. He also proposes methodologies for studying the practice in its own merits.
