This paper reflects on the existing paradox of Psychoanalysis. If on the one hand it has become a cultural heritage to the western world, on the other, it seems to be distancing itself from contemporary world and other theories of knowledge. The paper proposes a critical assessment of the institutionalization of psychoanalysis and the effects of such process as we celebrate 100 years of the IPA.
