Abstract

SOUZA, Mauricio Rodrigues de. The "Serenity" of the "Site of the Alien": possibilities of dialogue between Pierre Fédida and Martin Heidegger. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2010, vol.44, n.1, pp. 73-84. ISSN 0486-641X.

This work represents an attempt of dialogue between psychoanalysis and philosophy through the ideas of Pierre Fédida and Martin Heidegger. By describing the notions of "site of the alien" and "serenity", it emphasizes two specific points that suggest interesting proximities in their perspectives. First, there is the appeal for a wait that can also be read as a critique of nowadays' emphasis in the potentialities of technique. Furthermore, there is the redemption proposed by both authors of a dimension of mystery that is seen as a constitutive shadow of transference phenomenon and enlightened reason. Such proximity may be taken as an invitation or demand for analysts and philosophers to resist the temptation (and even the pressure) for immediate results, in order to keep interpretation at a certain foreign distance that can incentive elaborative activity.

Keywords : Psychoanalysis; philosophy; otherness; serenity; site of the alien.
