Abstract

VERDI, Marly Terra. From a single note to a melody: Considerations on the psychoanalytic clinic of Asperger Syndrome. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2010, vol.44, n.4, pp. 125-134. ISSN 0486-641X.

This paper discusses the issues of repetition and rigidity as counterpoints to the flexibility allowed by the widening of the symbolic capacity. I describe some aspects of the clinic of a patient with Asperger Syndrome, aiming to find themes of his interest, as well as his uncountable repetitions, the beginning of his symbolic play and the development of his most meaningful play. I discuss his constant repetitions as themes of a single note, though music is his greatest interest and ability, and also some aspects of the intense transference experienced in the relationship with this patient. To conclude, I analyze the technical aspects of this work, attempting to distinguish the main meta-psychological implications brought by this clinic.

Keywords : Psychoanalytical clinic; Asperger syndrome; autism; counter-transference; metapsychology.
