Abstract

ROJAS-URREGO, Alejandro et al. Shibboleth by Doris Salcedo: reflections on the representation of the negative. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2011, vol.45, n.1, pp. 89-94. ISSN 0486-641X.

Through a work of applied psychology, the perspective of a crack as being the representation of a lack of representation is constructed from “Shibboleth”, a piece by the artist Doris Salcedo. The effects which a work of art can have over a spectator-analyst are connected with actual elements of the experience of the psychoanalytic clinic, and concepts which link to this theme are explored.

Keywords : the negative; applied psychoanalysis; representation; sense/meaning/signification.
