Abstract

DUARTE, Renata Martinelli. "Magic" in the setting. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2011, vol.45, n.3, pp. 69-76. ISSN 0486-641X.

The author reports an unusual clinical experience, in which interpretation stems from a state of reverie, and wonders about the origin of such an interpretation. Starting from the concept that analytic work occurs when the analytic pair interacts, creating together, she resorts to what Ogden calls the analytic third, the result of intersubjective interaction of the two subjects of the analysis, to sustain such an experience. The analyst, besides listening to the experience of the analysand, participates in this creation, with his own reverie. As with Winnicott's Squiggle game, construction takes place step by step by the analytic pair. The result of this joint creation cannot be predicted and may even be surprising.

Keywords : reverie; intersubjectivity; analytic third; squiggle game; technique.
