Abstract

GOLDFAJN, Denise Salomão. New worlds, old trails: In search of a psychoanalyst identity. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2012, vol.46, n.2, pp. 91-103. ISSN 0486-641X.

Starting with a vignette about a discussion between candidates and psychoanalysts in an institute of psychoanalysis, the author uses a fairy tale to draw parallels on the unconscious fantasies that cause conflicts between candidates and analysts, impeding the transmission of psychoanalysis by causing a dichotomy. In opposition to the dichotomy presented, the author proposes the paradox: traditional / revolutionary, anachronic / modern and points to the developments in analyst training models that result from the demand for psychoanalysis in recent global markets such as Asia, Eastern Europe, Central America and Africa.

Keywords : unconscious fantasies; transmission; paradox; culture; globalization.
