Abstract

SALVITTI, Adriana. Further notes on Bion's contributions to psychoanalytic observation in the 1950s: considerations on clinical practice and style. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2012, vol.46, n.3, pp. 163-174. ISSN 0486-641X.

We follow the development of Bion's interest in psychoanalytic observation, through his papers on psychosis, in order to point out some theoretical conceptions, clinical approaches and features of his literary style that participate of his later methodological formulations. We draw attention to Bion's style in his effort to describe certain clinical experiences and to convey psychoanalytical knowledge through scientific papers. We highlight the presence of ambiguities and imprecisions in Bion's writing, without the intention of solving them.

Keywords : literary style; observation; analytic attitude; projective identification.
