Abstract

BALLARA, Francesco Castellet y. Money as the core concept of the psychoanalytic setting.Translated bySonia Scala Padalino. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2012, vol.46, n.4, pp. 112-125. ISSN 0486-641X.

Money is one of the fundamental parameters of the analytic setting and, yet, it is rarely addressed in the literature and in scientific exchanges. The author proposes that the main reason for this is the unconscious link between money and the emotional foundations of our psychic life: i.e. the attachment and dependence in our primary relationships, where love and hate, vulnerability and power, are paradoxically prevalent. Some clinical vignettes provide clinical evidence to the theoretical frameworks proposed.

Keywords : money; setting; emotions; early relationships; dependence on the analyst; paradox.
