Based on the idea that, during emotional experience there is a constant flow among the senses of existence, potency and inexistence, the author develops elaborations on the sense of inexistence. The author points out that, if the observation of emotional experience takes into consideration the references of these senses, this enables the harvest of and the work with elements derived from sensoriality, since the theory organized and defined based on object relations that privilege emotions and their meanings does not allow such developments. The author falls back on the idea of Reserve, a concept taken from the visual arts, to approach areas that have not been touched by emotion, but which constitute as interface with different mental dimensions that are accessible in the clinical experience. These elaborations originate from the speculation that the areas that are inaccessible and without representation in the psyche offer themselves as interface with more developed areas. In this regard, the author points out that the sense of inexistence can be apprehended based on a background of existence, just as human existence itself has, as its source, inexistence.
