Abstract

MENEZES, Luís Carlos. Language and the potency of the metaphor in the processes of interpretation and construction in analysis. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2013, vol.47, n.2, pp. 49-54. ISSN 0486-641X.

The author highlights the function of language in enabling the naming and discrimination of the imponderable and fortuitous which, in the day to day of analysis, carry and give shape, circumstantially, to that which is enigmatic in transference. Beyond interpretation, he upholds the idea that the fictional element of construction, as a metaphor, holds a fundamental truth to analysis and to the analysand, operating not by suggestion, but through the retrieval of an inaccessible archaic experience. A clinical fragment illustrates this argument.

Keywords : interpretation; construction; truth in analysis; suggestion.
