Abstract

SILVA, Maria Cecília Pereira da. A passion between two minds: the narrative function. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2013, vol.47, n.4, pp. 69-79. ISSN 0486-641X.

This paper describes a psychic function of the analyst which has been defined through clinical experience with children. It is a psychic quality derived from the α function, which involves the capacity of reverie, as a passion between two minds: the analyst's narrative function. I present a clinical situation in which this function was constituted in the analytical field due to the patient's dificulty to symbolize. I describe how the narrative function seeks a connection with the isolation in which a child with autistic disorder lives, in whom the possibility of representation has not been established yet. It gives meaning to the repetitive and stereotyped play, weaving subjectivity and gradually introducing the notion of otherness. My attempt is to show how the analyst's narrative function in the construction of the sessions' themes allowed for the constitution of the psychic fabric in which the emotions were able to be shared in a meeting between two minds.

Keywords : function; narrative; passion; representation; autism; psychoanalysis.
