From the interview with Ivo Mesquita, the author reports ideas which occured to her as she allowed herself to be affected by the comments of the interviewee. She strolls through the Freudian concept of unheimlich, through Bion's notion of "without memory or desire" and through literature. All in order to propose that the analyst's commitment to freedom expresses itself in the capacity and/or possibility of exposing him or herself to the unknown and to estrangement.
