Abstract

FAVILLI, Myrna Pia. Psychoanalysis: discovered territory, territory to be discovered. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2014, vol.48, n.1, pp. 113-120. ISSN 0486-641X.

The author, from a clinical experience and diverse readings, proposes a reflection on the task of the psychoanalyst in these "new times". She begins the text with an invitation to a trip. Just as with the navigators of the discoveries of the New World, a trip towards the new, to the unexpected, full of surprises and perils. She compares the experiences and questionings of these explorers to those of psychoanalysts, faced with the constant unknown of the clinic. She underlines that "it is necessary to depart when the old is no longer enough", as did Columbus and Freud in their unrest, and as does the person who seeks analysis. Issues from several areas are approached: since the starting point, the beginning of an analysis, until the ending point, which would represent its conclusion. This way, the text brings up numerous matters which involve this tortuous passage and which involve, fundamentally, self-analysis, the internal path for the validation of the psychoanalyst's own task and of the proposal offered to new analysands: the encounter with oneself in the difficult task of living. These reflections will imply, necessarily, in terms of the institution, the theme of analytic training.

Keywords : internal world; nucleus of identity; epistemology; analytic training; end of analysis.
