The situation of a patient in analysis who discovers painting, without worrying about being recognized as an artist, is analyzed through association with a certain tradition that recognizes as art the production of non-professionals (art brut). To answer the question "Does art save?", we present a reflection on the issue of the limits and relations between ideology/knowledge, tradition/oblivion of origin in the fields of art and psychoanalysis.
