Abstract

PESSANHA, Antonio Luiz Serpa; ROMERA, Maria Lúcia Castilho  and  FORONES, Marcelo Moraes. On humor in the communication between analyst and analysand. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2014, vol.48, n.2, pp. 149-158. ISSN 0486-641X.

In this paper, the authors seek to investigate nuances of humor in the psychoanalytic experience. They describe some of the situations experienced by the analyst in his daily work in which, not infrequently, facing certain nonsenses engendered by the unconscious, he deals with the concept that "laughter is the only solution". They share some experiences which point to the perception of humor as a tool for the promotion of mental freedom of the analyst in performing his craft. Supported by some models extracted from music and poetry, connected with elements of Freudian metapsychology, they try to express what they learned about the function and the place of humor in the development of the analytical partnership. In this sense, they found favored links between the wide theoretical world and the peculiarities of the history of the members of the duo, allowing the resumption of the production of personal knowledge, of individual inner progress and, therefore, of psychoanalysis.

Keywords : psychoanalysis; humor; analytical relationship; mental freedom.
