Abstract

ROLLAND, Jean-Claude  and  BERLINER, Claudia. The permanence of the Oedipal object. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2014, vol.48, n.2, pp. 161-179. ISSN 0486-641X.

Men suffer in order to renounce the objects which attach them to their childhood sexuality. Part of these objects is preserved in the unconscious memory, giving strength and life to the multiple manifestations of psychopathology. It was towards this inertia, towards this pathogenic power of libido that Freud became increasingly sensitive as his research and theorizing advanced, the death drive possibly being interpreted in its most radical version. The analytic treatment works with the objective of restoring the conditions of this renunciation, once again giving shape to these repressed or introjected objects and submitting them to the process of enunciation, which liberates them of their erotic charge and forces them towards sublimation. It also deals with and amplifies the effects of the procedure of the dream, which is the tool for the work on mourning. The text attempts to examine the specific operations of this procedure in detail, particularly the different disconnections (signifier/signification, ideational content/conceptual involucre) and the incessant transpositions of the motions of desire between image language and verbal language.

Keywords : renunciation; dream; analytic treatment; Oedipal object; object relation; analogic interpretation; addressing; image language; verbal language.
