PAIM FILHO, Ignácio Alves. The contemporary being: between religious and scientific thinking (for reinvesting in the sublimatory process). Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2015, vol.49, n.1, pp. 193-206. ISSN 0486-641X.

This paper aims to be a reflection exercise about the “contemporary being”, focusing on the stages animist, religious, and scientific as a system of thought, which were proposed by Freud in his work Totem and Taboo. From these stages, the author briefly examines Freud's thinking in order to link the effects of inchoate ideas. He assumes that we are living in a time when the religious system of thought has been r evived, accompanied by a decline of the scientific system of thought. Thus, he suggests the importance of reinvesting in sublimatory bases of scientific thinking. From this interaction, he sees a system of thought that may be reconstructed which breaks from the idea of creating a Weltanschauung.

Palabras clave : sublimation; thinking; narcissism; Weltanschauung.
