Abstract

CIBELLA, Carolina; MAGALHAES, Andrea Seixas  and  FERES-CARNEIRO, Terezinha. Psychic transmission of traumatic elements in conjugality. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2015, vol.49, n.3, pp. 100-112. ISSN 0486-641X.

The purpose of this paper is to discuss the repercussions of the unconscious psychic transmission of traumatic elements in the constitution of the conjugal identity. For this purpose, the authors emphasized the structuring aspect of the trauma transmission. We assume the ghosts that haunt the couple are related to the traumatic aspects that the partners bring with themselves from those experiences with their first objects of love - either primary or oedipal objects - that are revived in conjugality. We consider this traumatic experience is constitutive of normal conjugality, and thus inherent in neurosis. We conclude that conjugality mobilizes an intense pulsional load, which is not only a product of the transpsychic transmission between partners but also a product of an ancestral legacy that has been carried on by them. Therefore the couple relationship includes the revival of past objectal relationships, as the romantic encounter enables the exercise of creativity and the recreation of the self.

Keywords : conjugality; trauma; psychic transmission; couple psychoanalysis; identification.
