Abstract

SCHAFFA, Sandra Lorenzon. Metapsychology, a hundred years later. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2015, vol.49, n.4, pp. 45-56. ISSN 0486-641X.

This paper aims to analyze the future of Freudian theory, one hundred years after Freud's metapsychological writings were first published. The author discusses the tendency towards a lighter psychoanalysis, which is closer to the psychoanalytic practice, and correlative to the abandonment of infantile sexuality and the abandonment of the theory of the instinctual drives. This paper questions the effects of changes in the psychoanalytic device, given that the epistemological horizon in Freud's thinking was crossed.

Keywords : metapsychology; instinctual drive; current psychoanalytic practice; return to Freud.
