Abstract

BICUDO, Virgínia Leone. The social reality in psychoanalytic work. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2016, vol.50, n.1, pp. 73-92. ISSN 0486-641X.

The social reality is necessarily inserted within the psychoanalytic situation by patient’s and psychoanalyst’s personalities. However, patient’s and psychoanalyst’s positions are diametrically opposites. While the patient revives his (or her) past experiences in the relationship with the analyst, the analyst uses the psychoanalytic technique in order to acquire a knowledge about the psychic reality which is built under the influence of mythic and mystic, ideological and doctrinaire, scientific and technological factors - in short, under the influence of processes of social structures.

Keywords : social reality; personality; patient; psychoanalyst; social structure.
