Abstract

RIBEIRO, Paulo de Moraes Mendonça. The disconcerted (and unrepaired) psychoanalyst: comments on access to proto-mental dimensions. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2016, vol.50, n.3, pp. 103-119. ISSN 0486-641X.

The author's purpose is to think about disconcerting situations that are experienced in everyday psychoanalytic practice. He considers two different kinds of consternations: (1) mental movements which are needed to enable the psychoanalyst to open up himself to intuitive uptakes from archaic, preverbal, and unknown dimensions of the analysand's psychic reality; (2) analyst's mental movements that may be the result of countertransferential acts, or may become interpretative acts, which are useful for developing some patient's personality functions. The author uses some aesthetic models and clinical vignettes in order to illustrate these conjectures.

Keywords : hallucinosis; act of faith; caesura; intimacy; multidimensional mind.
