Abstract

SALVITTI, Adriana. Writing and transmission in Bion's work: group model, pictorial model and transformation in O model. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2016, vol.50, n.3, pp. 155-167. ISSN 0486-641X.

This paper approaches the issue of the transmission of psychoanalysis in writing, and shows how Wilfred R. Bion dealt with that matter through his literary style in his work at different times. By reading Experiences in groups, "Catastrophic change", and the chapter "Commentary" from Second thoughts, three models of transmission are identified and named as group model, pictorial model, and transformation in O model, respectively. This paper demonstrates the way Bion creates an interaction between the theory that was being presented, the way of presenting it, and the reading process in these models. The author also indicates how the use of language summons readers to deal with psychoanalytic issues, especially with the method, while reading the text.

Keywords : Wilfred R. Bion; transmission; writing; group; pictorial language; transformation in O.
