Abstract

HARDT JR., Orlando. The silence and the witch. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2016, vol.50, n.4, pp. 26-38. ISSN 0486-641X.

This paper proposes that a specific kind of analysand's silence would work as a metonymy, that is, a semantic element would be replaced by another, which has an objective relation of material or conceptual continuity with the thought content. In this paper, the author resumes some concepts from pre-psychoanalytic writings (On the conception of the aphasias), Project for a scientific psychology, and The interpretation of dreams, as well as other concepts such as representation of the thing, representation of the word, repression, condensation, and displacement.

Keywords : silence; metapsychology; metonymy.
