Abstract

THORSTENSEN, Sonia. Couple psychoanalysis and sexuality: a certain mismatch. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2017, vol.51, n.2, pp. 65-76. ISSN 0486-641X.

This paper proposes to think about why couple and family psychoanalysis has neglected theoretical researches on sexual relations in marriage. The lack of focus on this subject matter is related to less listening ability in the clinical practice. This paper mentions some authors who have studied marital sexuality. The author illustrates this theme by using a few clinical vignettes, which are concerning a specific issue of marital sexuality, i.e., the discussion about frequency of sexual encounters in the couple relationship.

Keywords : couple psychoanalysis; marital sexuality; clinical listening.
