Abstract

PAIM FILHO, Ignácio Alves. Castration complex in times of new configurations. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2018, vol.52, n.2, pp. 97-112. ISSN 0486-641X.

The author develops ideas in this thought-provoking article about the castration complex and its connection with the life and death drive. Castration complex is a fundamental concept of Freud's metapsychology. The author's purpose is to establish a dialogue with new configurations. These configurations have resulted in diverse and disturbing forms, which have challenged the solutions so far set by social order. In this context, the author attempts to think about the relevance of the castration complex - in its intrinsic relation to the Oedipus complex - as an organizer par excellence of the psyche and, therefore, of the culture.

Keywords : castration; Oedipus; drive; configuration.
