Abstract

FLECHNER, Silvia. Beyond limits: suicide attempt during adolescence. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2019, vol.53, n.4, pp. 83-101. ISSN 0486-641X.

By mentioning adolescents and their suicide attempt or action, we face two main problems: on one hand, the wish to die or death itself; on the other hand, adolescence as life transition point in which adolescents are constantly questioning. A destructive relationship with their psyche and body or self-attacks against themselves that manifest through self-destructive acts may cause an outbreak at adolescence. This may threaten the narcissist basis on which extremely vulnerable psyche is supported, leading them to action-consciously or unconsciously - to attempt against life. From our professional view, the analytical work with these adolescents commit and challenge us most times, leading us through significantly dangerous paths, in which our own points of reference may disperse. Working with affections is what mobilizes the analyst as the representative process may not be strong enough to be expressed or restrained. The clinical material included in this work attempts to explain some of the situations in which are presented during adolescence, that in this case is about life, sexuality and death.

Keywords : adolescence; suicide; aggression; violence; sexuality; passage to the act.
