Abstract

MACEDO, Mônica Medeiros Kother. I decipher or devour myself: psychic pain and self-destructiveness. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2019, vol.53, n.4, pp. 209-223. ISSN 0486-641X.

This paper explores, from psychoanalytical concepts of trauma, act and psych pain, the clinical case of Aurélio, who at 60 years old, attempted suicide by swallowing caustic soda. It is understandable that the modality of passage to the act, which characterizes the suicide attempt, denounces an extreme situation of psych pain where the Self sees itself attacked by traumatic intensities that place its existence in risk. The psychoanalytic listening is considered able to promote, before the drama and the risk of life inherent to self-destructive acts, the construction of alternatives in facing psych pain.

Keywords : suicide attempt; psych pain; self-destructive; psychoanalysis.
