ALENCAR, Denise. What is beyond the pleasure principle?. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2020, vol.54, n.1, pp.61-68. ISSN 0486-641X.
Until 1919, Freud said that the pleasure principle guided the functioning of the human being. With the text "The uncanny", this truth begins to change, being completely reinvented in 1920 with the text "Beyond the pleasure principle". True, he always said that his drive theory was not complete, but what made Freud change radically? What was so strong that it would go beyond the pleasure principle? These were the questions that guided the writing of this text, which represents only an attempt to apprehend some Freudian concepts.
Keywords : compulsion to repeat; death drive; pleasure principle; life drive.
