Abstract

BAEZA-VELASCO, Carolina; FENETRIER, Caroline  and  GELY-NARGEOT, Marie-Christine. Differences in self-reported social anxiety between Chilean and French undergraduates. Cuad. neuropsicol. [online]. 2012, vol.6, n.2, pp. 39-47. ISSN 0718-4123.  http://dx.doi.org/10.7714/cnps/6.2.203.

This study compares the results of 85 Chilean and 174 French undergraduates who responded to the Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale (LSAS). French men scored significantly higher in the LSAS than Chilean men. No differences were found between women from both countries. The results are discussed in terms of cross-cultural differences such as individualism and collectivism.

Keywords : social anxiety; collectivism; individualism; cultural factors.
