EMA LOPEZ, José Enrique. Capitalism and subjectivity: What subject, what bond and what freedom?. Psicoperspectivas (Valpso., En línea) [online]. 2009, vol.8, n.2, pp. 224-246. ISSN 0718-6924.
Capitalism functions articulated with a discourse about freedom of choice and individual autonomy. This discourse makes us less free and more incapable of transforming what has been naturalized as the only horizon of the possible, that of capitalism itself. In this article we analyze capitalism as a way of subjectivation. Then, we analyze the important role played by the ideal of autonomous subject and freedom of choice as fetishes that enable our voluntary submission. Finally, we summarize the main arguments of our analysis in order to propose some conditions for the subject, social bonds and freedom for a political practice able to escape the hegemony of capitalism.
