Chronic illnesses require often times complicated treatments because patients have to modify their daily habits radically, such as diet changes, medication administration, physical exercise, etc. An important aspect to achieve control of the illness is the therapeutic adherence. The objective of this work is to present an adherence scale for chronic patient, based on explicit behaviors. To determine the reability of this scale, it was applied to 200 patients with diverse chronic illnesses. The Cronbach´s alpha index of reliability was of .91, and the factorial analysis showed 3 factors with 7 items: a) Control of ingesta of medications and foods; b) Behavioral medical pursuit, and c) Self-efficacy. To have an instrument of this type based on in explicit behaviors helps to identify the participation of the patients and the factors that facilitate or osbstruct their therapeutic adherence, including the participation of the professionals of the health.
